riyada in arabic means "training" or "discipline". It was used by the arabs in relation to horse taming. Sufis refer to their discipline as "riyadat an-nafs": disciplining the soul / training the ego. Today, the word riyada has come to mean "sports". There is an Arabic proverb that says: "The purpose of sports (riyada) is not to win cups, but to discipline the soul". This blog is here to help me discipline my soul and train my body.

lol. sorry.

life happened. also had to go to Canada for 10 days surrounding eid.

...and i have nothing to post about. im doing good with all my religious duties (well i'm writing this while missing Jum'a but that's because i overslept, dunno how that happened).

all my prayers, and a daily wird after fajr, consisting of reading the 99 Names and Ibn Idris' dua after finishing the names. Next hopefully i'm gonna start doing the 99 Names after maghrib too, and other stuff.

but i mean, things are fine, got nothing to try and fix right now. gonna be a while before i start adding more sunna to my routine cause im overwhelmed by university work. its way too much, i'm way behind. so there's no time to write.

same with gym and everythings. things are doing ok. dont think anyone cares about that anyway.

but here's good news: I cooked my first real meal yesterday. Like full cooking and everything, not just preparing or heating or mixing, but full cooking.. and it was delicious!
recipe: http://food.realsimple.com/realsimple/display/recipefinder.dyn?action=displayRecipe&recipe_id=608425

my hands still smell of garlic from cutting up one clove yesterday, so i guess its better for the other worshippers that I missed Jum'a (the Prophet said not to pray in the mosque if you smell of garlic).

LOL @ DA's comment.

It is good to hear that you doing well with your worship and doing your wird daily. I still struggle sometimes to do my wird everyday.

I look forward to reading more when things settle down.

ma'a salaamah ukhee!

hey hijabi. well your wird is probably the tariqa wird which im sure is longer than what im doing for now. mine only takes 5 minutes but im gonna increase that inshalla. but make sure you do it everyday, its very important. anyway, i think i'll just write a post discussing what i wanna do instead of writing it here.
